7:30 am: Pick up at Orchard Downs South Laundry
7:40 am: Pick up at Illini Union
10:30 am: Arrive at City Museum
(lunch on your own at one of the museum's many restaurants)
4:00 pm: Gather for departure
(We will have snacks for the drive home)
6:50 pm: Return to Urbana

The Abraham Lincoln Experience trip
Monday, August 5
Abraham Lincoln is America's most famous president, renowned as a great leader who led the nation through perhaps its worst crisis - the US Civil War. Before becoming president, he lived and practiced law in Springfield IL. Come see his house, visit the museum that commemorates his life, and walk through his tomb.
Pickups: 7:40am David & Ruth's House
7:45 Orchard Downs South Laundry
8:00 Illini Union (north door)
Arrive around 9:45am – Lincoln Visitor Center10:10 – 11:10pm - Visit the Historic Lincoln’s Home (tickets reserved)
11:30-12:00 – Tour of the Illinois State Capital
12:00 – 1:00 Lunch – Jimmy John’s sandwiches selection provided – Eat outside if the weather is nice.
1:15 – 2:15 Tour of IL Supreme Court with John Lupton, Executive Director History Programs.
Walk by Old State Capital Building (being renovated) and Lincoln Law Office
2:30 – 4:30 – Visit Lincoln Museum (the group rate of $10/person) This is a very interesting museum and a highlight of the trip. Bring your UI ID if you have one. See https://www.illinois.gov/alplm/Pages/default.aspx for more information.
4:30 – 4:50 Visit Lincoln’s Tomb, then drive back home – should be in CU by 6:30pm
Trip Donation: $25/person ($15 for children). This includes transportation, admission into the Lincoln Museum, and lunch at Jimmy John's. (Without lunch, trip is $20.)
