Who We Are

Sam is a professional musician by training, playing drums and percussion throughout central Illinois. Joanne is a piano and violin teacher, maintaining a large private studio. We love the Lord Jesus and enjoy sharing His love with international students. This year, we have four students sharing the house with us.

In addition to her teaching, Joanne loves needlework and baking pies. Sam enjoys playing strategy games like Power Grid and Twilight Struggle, and we both love playing Disc Golf together.

We have two young children who love our international friends too!

Our History

We met in college, where we were both studying music. We were married in 2005, one of the best decisions we ever made! While Sam was pursuing his doctorate at UIUC, we began volunteering with ISI. We were excited to meet people from around the world and eager to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Feeling God calling us into vocational ministry, we joined ISI as campus staff in 2016.

David & Ruth Krehbiel

Welcome!  - from David & Ruth Krehbiel
We are both graduates of the University of Illinois.  David studied finance and business and Ruth studied Food Science.

We live in Urbana and have 7 children – Ruth home schooled our children.  Three of them are now married, we have three granddaughters - and 2 of our sons currently live in Urbana.

David worked at the University of Illinois in administration for 26 years.   For more than 30 years we have been welcoming UIUC international students.

We enjoy meeting people from all over the world -learning and sharing together. We offer occasional recreational trips to famous, interesting places, dinners with American families, English classes, Bible discussions and a special program for International women (www.iwc-tcbc.weebly.com)
My wife and I look forward to meeting you at one of our events!
